Need some diagnostic help here with my tachometer.
I have a 1976 2.0. All stock except a pertronix upgrade. Immediately after a cold start the tach registers fine. A few minutes later (and especially after driving on the street for 10 or more minutes), the tach will freeze, usually around 2K RPM. Any ideas as to why? And how to fix? Thanks in advance for the help! Bill P. P.S. The car has been sitting for the better part of a year. |

I had one do that once.
In my case it was a problem with the tach. Actually the tach lens was bowed inward allowing the center to contact the lens. It seems like it started out in the morning working, and would then get stuck later. Sometimes you could tap on the tack and the needle would return to function for a while. I replaced the plastic lens with a glass lens and haven't had a problem with it since. Just something to look at. |
