Nope. It's legitimate. When I last looked at the particular variety, the case was solved in general for n = 2 or 3 mod 4, and large subsections of 0 or 1 mod 4. In fact, it was solved for all except for n = 12 or 21. (iirc -- I'll have to dig to ensure correctness) I believe 21 was solved by a very clever automorphism, and when I last looked, 12 was lone unsolved case.
