Because people won't use titles that let you figure out if you want to follow the link without making the server send the page to everyone so they can read it to find out if it's even intersting to them ...
sorry - curmudgeon mode this morning.... after reading four posts in a row that gave me no clue what they were about until i got to the site and opened the page. PLEASE PUT A MEANINGFUL TITLE ON YOUR POST! thank you. rant off. |

The slowness that I notice seems to be related to the fact that when you want to go back to the main page after viewing a topic, it reloads the entire main page instead of just going back to where you were. This does mean that you get to see any new things added in the 30 seconds or so it takes to read a post, but I would trade that for the speed. I assume this also consumes bandwidth on the server (I am a dummy about computer stuff, so I could be wrong here).
