Saw this on the bulletin board at the grocery store a while ago and couldn't ever get a hold of the guy. He put up another ad and I got in touch finaly. We had one when I was a kid and I always wanted to get one.
It will be my Coffee Shop company vehicle. It's nice that it is a D-jet. Sure is easy to get at this thing compared the 914. (IMG:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/198950.jpg) |

A little help: http://www.icbm.org/erkson/ttt/engine/type...e_4_conversion/
There's really not much to hanging the engine in a late model but it's not necessarily a "drop in". Carbs, at least for a BIG engine, will be somewhat restricted because you'll need to have short filters in order to keep the engine under the deck lid. The stock 1.6L with FI (fuel injection) is quite reliable and easy. A Bentley shop manual would be a WISE tool to have. I highly recommend you subscribe to the www.vwtype3.org email list (it's free). Here's my latest acquisition: http://www.icbm.org/erkson/personal/vw_auto_72/ and here's my baby: http://www.icbm.org/erkson/personal/VWSTATS.HTM Welcome (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) |
