Joe Buckle and I are out working, just leaving the first job in North Long Beach heading to the second store to install the next router. We are sitting in his Tahoe at the exit of an alley waiting for the traffic to clear so we can go, when I see this older 77 to 80 Dodge van come across the interesection and the trailer full of roofing shingles comes detached from the van and heads down the road all by itself. In my mind I am thinking "Back up, back up!" but by the time it actually comes out of my mouth to tell Joe, he has about 2 seconds to react, needless to say, this trailer with about 2000 pounds of roofing shingles strikes the front of the Tahoe and turns the big vehicle to the side effectively shifting the entire front clip on Joe's Tahoe. Unfu#$ing believable. The guy doesnt speak very good english, of course he has no insurance, the chains that are supposed to be attached to the vehicle are wound inside and through a ring on the trailer, not the van and there are no working tail lights on the trailer either. I'm sorry but in my opinion, the guy should have been deported on the spot since Joe's uninsured motorist will have to cover it anyway. People like that should not even be on the road. If the trailer would have veered any sooner, all the pedestrians at the bus stop would have been plowed over by this trailer. But of course, nobody was even thinking about that. Just another day in Southern California.
How was your day? |

I'm glad that Joe and Scott are both uninjured! Also glad the the pedestrians did not get hurt and that Joe's truck is fixable. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif)
Welcome to Kawifornia! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif) My friend got t-boned on the passenger side of her F250 by an Ice Cream Truck that was backing out of a driveway. And then he took off! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) He hit her so hard that it cost over $800 damage. He came back and started yelling at her for bad driving. The cop that showed up said there was nothing he could do. Later, she found out that the insurance information she got from the Ice Cream Truck drive was in Bankruptsy and no longer in business. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/huh.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) It took here almost two years of taking this guy to court to get him to pay her $20 a month until he's paid off. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) He calls her sometimes and tries to convince her to let him stop paying. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/lol2.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/slap.gif) And to think that these are the trucks that roam around your neighborhood with "Slow" and "Watch for Children" (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) |
