i don't know if you followed my new motor saga/nightmare/10 month of misery, but today was a very special day!
IT RUNS yepp, it runs. almost perfect. lot's-o-power. schweeeet! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/boldblue.gif) i got so excited, i was trying to emulate the blue jumping smily, but brad told me to quit it ... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) here's what we did in a nutshell: turned dizzy driveshaft 180 deg (into it's normal position), adjusted valves correctly (thanks jake and what's his face, the guy whos name i forgot), replaced the ignition system with a MSD 6 system, coil, dizzy, box, wires etc. ditched the 40 webers and put in a set of freshly rebuild 44 IDF webers. started her up, tuned the carbs and i was ready to fly! gawd that feels gud ... i was losing faith. quickly. then i had a blast on my ~40 mile drive back home from the shop. well, until i came up on a cop car on 880. didn't wanna pass him because i have expired tags. no need to push my luck for the day ... yeah! thank you brad sir! here are the schpecks ... ======================= T4 Motor, 2056cc ======================= stock crank 71mm 96mm Keith Black Pistons 9:1 compression euro race "H" grind cam Sachs racing clutch and pressure plate 44 webers MSD Ignition System tuna can oil sump total rebuild with all new bearings mild port and polish on rebuilt heads with new bronze guides ======================= Weber 44 IDF Dual Carbs ======================= Air Corrector Jets = 190 Emulsion Tubes = F11 Main Jets = 145 Venturis = 32mm Auxiliary Venturis = 4.5mm Idle Jets = 50 it feels like i'm missing some power on the bottom end, but i'm still running stock HE's and a Manta muffler. a *real* 4-1 header and gud exhaust should help a lot here ... nice and smooth transition from idle to main jets, lot's of pulling power. in fact, we had set the rev-limiter to 6k but the engine pulls so hard up there, when i was hitting the limiter it felt like it still had lots of power left. i need to step that up a bit rpm-limit wise. i got the heavy duty dual valve springs, so i should be good for some more rpm ... need to get it on a dyno, that's what i really should do. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) oh, that reminds me, anyone got a adapter for the MSD 6 box so i can hook up my stock Tach again ??? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif) i *think* the idle jet may be a tad too big ...
