I need to have my altenator rebuild on my 2.7 and I've removed the fan and housing from the engine but can't seem to be able to seperate the alternator from this assembly. There is a round "nut" with two flat sides and a notch in the middle ...is this special tool time again? The alt is a Marchaval or however it's spelded (spelt?,lol...) Anyone here come across this? TIA.

Like the Krusty one said....remove all the nuts on the back of the fan ring and give a few taps with a dead blow hammer....it'll come.
BTW when reassembling....don't forget the bushing behind the alt between the ring and alt....ask me how I know. You could also just take the ring and alt to the rebuild shop and have the guy at the counter do it....
