I need to have my altenator rebuild on my 2.7 and I've removed the fan and housing from the engine but can't seem to be able to seperate the alternator from this assembly. There is a round "nut" with two flat sides and a notch in the middle ...is this special tool time again? The alt is a Marchaval or however it's spelded (spelt?,lol...) Anyone here come across this? TIA.

The fan is easiest to remove when the assembly is still attached to the engine. But since it's already out....
Try giving it a shot of penetrant like Kroil, PB Blaster or anything BUT WD-40.....give it couple of taps with a dead blow hammer and pull on both sides. Remember there is a "key" on the alternator shaft that needs to be kept for future install.... |
