I need to have my altenator rebuild on my 2.7 and I've removed the fan and housing from the engine but can't seem to be able to seperate the alternator from this assembly. There is a round "nut" with two flat sides and a notch in the middle ...is this special tool time again? The alt is a Marchaval or however it's spelded (spelt?,lol...) Anyone here come across this? TIA.

Doug,

There are several good therads from the past on this subject also.

Alternator search with username krk

I didn't look, but I vaguely remember Kim's 914/6 shroud removal thread being fairly descriptive with pics. Go have a look. There are some other good ones there as well.
