Try a smaller non union or regional LTL carriers or a non asset based company like Pilot air. Roadway and Yellow are the same company now and charge the highest rate in the industry.
Set it up as a station delivery and pickup as well. LTL carriers will kill you with local delivery charges if its going to a residential address. Also if you can conslidate everything onto just one pallet you'd get a better rate. http://www.saia.com http://www.averittexpress.com/ Try Pilot Air's economy service they might have a real cheap rate: http://www.pilotair.com/ Or you could give a broker a shot: http://www.freightcenter.com/rates.htm If you dont have any luck PM and I'll help you find something for 1/3 that price! You shouldnt be paying anymore than .50-.75 cents a lb if you palletize correctly. |
