the issue here is how are the cops in your area,, because if they are so uptight like here i got stop with my 2000 S4 who has the HID as OEM and they stop me and asked me questions,, are those original,, can i see under the hood,, bla bla bla,, i told him" " you are really busy tonight ""

huge, huge market for stolen HID*s, big problem for the new Porsche, BMW and others right now....of course the cars they are going into are the Honda's and VW/Audi (GTIs and early A4) ricer type cars....

figure the 914 is 30 years old, the HIDs are just a few years old and darn expensive, so, you might be the 1st one to do it...others have talked about it, but its one of those things that if it was that cheap and easy, everyone would be doing it.....

I don't know that brand well enough, I'd lean towards the Sylvania HIDs, but those start in the $500 range....

*it's so bad that some places are issuing this warning: In order to help prevent inappropriate use of HID system components, Proof of Purchase may be requested when ordering spare parts.
