Hey guys,
I'm new here, but I've been checking this site pretty much everyday for about six months now, so I decided I might as well introduce myself. My name is Corey, and I'm a 20 yr old POOR college student. I've been searching frantically for the perfect 1973 2.0 (of course) for quite awhile now and was wondering how long it took everyone to find their very own special teener. And also, where do you guys look?! I use Ebay, collectorcartrader, google, and the classified section on this site. I bought the last few local autotraders, but to no avail. I'm in Orange County, by the way. Anywho, nice to finally find a forum where people don't talk about ricerz they "PWND" in a sweet drag race d00d (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) Thanks, Corey |

My Teener found me. I was cruising craigslist (as I do often), when I noticed a 914 for sale for $900. I wasn't looking for a 914 (heck, the last thing I needed was another project) but I always loved the look of a 914 and figured I could turn this one around a make a few bucks. I figured the guy would take $750 so I went a took a look.
The front end was crashed in and there were a LOT of little problems. It looked like a teenager had owned the car for about 10 years and just drove it into the ground, ignoring all the things that were breaking. I walked away from the deal. Then, about 2 weeks later I see the ad pop up again on CL, this time for $700. At the same time I found a rolling parts car on CL for free. I confirmed the free parts car was still available - got it delivered to my house - then offered the guy $450 for my gem and never looked back. I was planning to just get it looking and running decent and then turning it around for a quick profit. After my first decent drive around the block - I decided I'm keeping it. This is the absolute most fun car I have ever been in. I am looking forward to the ground-up restoration I plan to do. I am even looking more forward to that maiden voyage after the restoration. Even in it's current (very ugly) condition, I still smile every turn... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) Good luck finding your new addiction! |
