The last bum that I gave money to, back in 1994, asked me for some change for the "United negro cheeseburger fund." I got a chuckle so I gave him my burdensome pocket change. He came out a few minutes later and showed my friend and I a reciept for the burger.
I find that those of us who have been down and worked our way up seem to be less charitable. Perhaps, it is due to our righting our selves with out having to beg. I have been homeless and lived in a car before and I will be the first to give a hand up rather than a hand out. I like handing a bum a neutra grain bar or something just to see their expression (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
