Hello-
My 1970 914-6 has developed a crack in the windshield. In your opinion/experience, would you entrust the replacement of this windshield to a local auto glass house, or should I try to locate someone that specializes on older vehicles? Thanks. |

I used Safelite auto glass (a chain) and it was cheap and the glass is fine. The problems are: lack of experience with the 914 specifically, careless use of glue (glued the clips), waste of chrome trim, and hurried to finish (overlooked rust).
In retrospect, I should have knocked out the window myself, taken care of the rust, then found someone who had successful installed a 914 window including the chrome trim and paid the money. My chrome trim is taped on now. Good luck!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) |
