While under my car today I noticed the numbers imprinted on the bottom of the tranny seem weird for a 914. They are: 911 770 0981. Anyone know what trans this is?

the guys are right, #911 770 0981 is from a mid 70's 911,
soooo, it's not a 901, it's a 915 ...

and here are the stock tranny serial numbers:

1970: 914/11 HAO 000 001 - HAO 014 826
1971: 914/11 HAO 014 827 - HAO 030 093
1972: 914/11 HAO 030 094 - HAO 053 072
1973: 914/12 HAO 053 072 - HAO 056 362
1973: 914/12 HA 01 10 2 - HA 31 12 2
1973: 914/12 HA 01 01 3 - HA 31 07 3
1974: 914/12 HA O1 08 3 - HA 31 12 2
1974: 914/12 HA 01 01 4 - HA 31 07 4
1975: 914/12 HA O5 08 4 -
