A reputable dealer is a good way to go. I do CC transactions to avoid money transfer fees. It also locks down the current exchange rate, as they can change by the time money is deposited in their bank. There are escrow services, but I've never used them. If parts are new, then you'll pay VAT and at customs. If the parts are used, it is possible to avoid customs fees altogether (such as "salvaged parts"). For freight forwarders, I use Action Global, though a company that has a local office near the company you're buying from can save a great deal of headaches. I've never made an overseas transaction with a private individual. FWIW. Which country? Andy |
