Doug, Nice seeing and talking to you on Saturday. I was there Friday afternoon and most of Saturday. Good weather and a fairly good field. I spent some time checking out the Can-Am car in the paddock. This had Bobby Rahal's name on it. I am not sure what the make was. This car was from the last few years of the Can-Am, after the glory years of McLaren and Porsche, when the cars were usually rebodied F-5000 chassis. There were a few purpose-built cars and I think this might be one of them. Could it be a CAC-1, designed by Tony Cicale? Also, didn't Al Holbert build a Can-Am car? I can't remember. The Can-Am was dying it's second death, interest was low, and racing information was hard to come by in those days. |
