Christmas is coming and my sweetie's gonna get me some racing sim gear and software. Platform is Win XP PC. Is there a good one with 914's? I've got an old Win 98 version of "Need for Speed" but I know there must be way better stuff out there now. GPL is still IMHO one of the best simulations out there. It didn't get popular because it is probably too hard for the average PC gamer. It took me 6 months before I could win my first race (on realistic mode). But like Seanery says, find the downloadable maps and upgrades, tracks, etc., and the realism is even better.
I ran Gingerman in my Formula Vee, came home and downloaded the track, set up the Eagle to respond just like a Vee, and the realism blew me away. I've been racing it for 5 years now and it still is as difficult as the day I started. My fellow FV buddies get on-line and use it like an off-season training tool - sort of.
