My speedometer works fine but the mileage doesnt change. The odometer part just doesnt turn over. Can I buy a rebuilt speedometer or is there any easy fix? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

QUOTE (jfort @ Dec 20 2005, 02:49 PM)
when I had the problem it turned out to be the right angle fitting at the transmission.  it had disintegrated inside.  that and a new cable, while I was in there, did the trick.

If the angle drive or cable is broken, the speedo will not work either.
His speedo works, so I'd assume that the odometer gear inside
is slipping on its shaft.

Fixing that isn't that tough. I'd offer one word of caution. Be careful
while doing it and don't shake or tip the speedometer too hard.
If you do, the needle will hit the stop too hard and chip off the paint
on the tip of the needle. BTDT....
