I'm looking to buy a gasoline heater for my nine-one-four.
i live in colorado and drive my car year round. Does anyone know where to get one? The newer the better. |

A gas heater is basically just like the oil furnace in your house, just burns gasoline instead. Much smaller burner orifice. The exhaust goes outside the car (drill a hole and run the flue pipe outside) so that the CO doesn't kill you.
Stewart Warner is no longer made. The Webasto is still made and is very popular and pretty expensive. The Eberspacher may be the other brand that OEM'ed them for VW. They all have different variations of the blower discharge and mounting brackets; i.e, bug, type II, type III, 914, etc. They are all basically the same. They provide excellent heating to the cabin. I lived in Alaska, and they work well. It will drop your fuel economy down a bit, like 2-3 MPG, but you likely won't give a rats ass about that as long as you're toasty warm. |
