I purchased a 1.7 from EASY. before I put the motor in I did a valve adjustment and noticed the intake v. on cyl. #2 was different than the rest. It also had a dish shape wearing into the top. I adjusted by feel best I could and went for it. When the motor fired there was a valvetrain noise coming from that side of the motor.

I inspected it and found not only did the vavle lash increase but as the rocker pushes the valve it moves side to side.

the motor is out now.

should I run it, or pull the head and replace the valve?

If the valve is moving from side to side, it's likely the valve guide that needs to be replaced, not just the valve. If one guide is worn, the chances are very good they're all worn. Get the heads rebuilt.
