I inspected my shift coupler today and the bushings are shot. This is at the firewall end. Does anyone have the trick to getting the new bushings in? The coupler is in place but the pin on the shift tube looks like a press fit pin.interesting repair....

i just did this. kinda a pain in the butt....
remove coupler from foward shift rod, undo tranny connection. take the bar and coupler to your workbench. put the bar part in a vice. 2 ways to do it from here. A ) you can use a small socket, a big socket, and a c clamp to press the pin out... B ) you can use a hammer and a punch to drive the pin out. then, plop new bushings in, put the pin back in... make sure the cone screw area on the coupler faces down, so it matches the tranny end also....
