I inspected my shift coupler today and the bushings are shot. This is at the firewall end. Does anyone have the trick to getting the new bushings in? The coupler is in place but the pin on the shift tube looks like a press fit pin.interesting repair....

did this a coupla weeks ago. that pin is a tough one, but i ended up pressing it out in my vise using a bolt slightly smalller in diameter on one side, and a large socket on the other side. crank the vise and the bolt will press the pin out into the open arms of the socket.

after replacing all shift bushings, i really can't believe the difference. a huge globe of grease at each point helps too (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

tackled the firewall bushing yet? that one was actually easy, i pressed it in by hand after boiling it for about 10 minutes.
