i grew up on indy and f1. the cars and the technology is what hooked me. unser, andretti , sienna, mansel, stewart, parnelli jones, vellenuve, and all those guys that drove the unlimited cars.
it was on abc wide world of sports, i loved it. nascar is a show and a sport. i think road and track did an article about this. and how the tracks are built to be a spectator friendly venue, no more super speedways, view of most of the track. the personalities are marketed and polished for sponser and tv appeal. now wouldnt irl and f1 learn something here. nascar would never let 70% of a field of race cars drop out of a race. they had there tire issues too. f1 have just screwed the dog on the rules and can't seem to figure it out. tires, engines [in the past] fuel and aero work. they just need to slow down on the changes and sort the rules they have. irl is sadly to me a spec race. cart is gone period. trans is gone but trying to rebuild. i loved when audi kick everones ass is the 80's imsa.. ? so it boils down too sponser $$$$$$$$$ for the cars teams and series. and marketing the series. |
