When I said no complicated fuel managment I meant no FI or computers used on the cars in a stand alone mode. There is alot of engineering and tuning done in the shop and garage. These car aren't truly a stock car as in the early days of the sport but changes have come as a result to make competition equal and safer. Hope the no 43 Petty car can do something this year with a real driver in it.
Okay while I was writing my post someone else posted something that got me riled up. Its not NASCAR that is making money off Dale Sr. name it is his widow and the licensing co that handles his name. When he died at Daytona all production and shipping stopped on his collectables till his widow gave the go ahead. He had his fans and his haters but all can agree he made a lasting contribution to the sport. As for technology I can't answer fully about that, but remember reading about before Dodge left racing they were using an engine called a HEMI and winning. Ford wanted permission to run an overhead cam V8 to try and be competetive(sp). This was in the early 70's |
