I went through this argument tonight with an F1 fan. NASCAR would not tell a group of potential fans to piss off like Senor Eccelstone did at Indy this year.
Someone else pointed out you can go down walk through the garages and talk to the drivers see the cars up close. Everything is fan accessible. Try that in F1. The drivers are as stuck up as the organizers. Now this is from another forum I am on: There is no symmetry on the chassis, suspension or body. A simple oval track is made up of four turns. The cassis is part of the suspnsion. Left side and right side control arms are totally different. The bodies are the shape of a wing in the plan view. You must get the car as close to the ground as possible in the turns for both aero and CG. The car has five inches of suspension travel. A strip tape on front grill will change the handeling characteristics depending on where it is placed. A car can be made to go from tight to neurtal to loose by adjusting the rebound in the left front shock. A car can be made to go from tight to neutral to loose by adjusting the angle of the right upper contol are in either the side view or the front view. A car can be made to go from tight to neutral to loose by adjusting the tire pressure in the right rear 1.5 psi. A car can be made to go from tight to neutral to loose by adjusting the angle of the track bar a few turns. A car can be made to go from tight to neutral to loose by changing the spring rate in any of the positions in the car. The list goes on and on. Each of these changes affects other corners on the track differently. What do you change that fixes on problem without crearting another. What combination of changes do you make to take care of all the problems. These are not just simple roundy roundy cars. F1 engineers would be completely lost. |
