Oh yes.. HDTV vs. regular TV or even DVD is far more dramatic a difference than comparing Progressive Scan Component to supervideo or just RCA connections.

Our cable system is pretty nice here. Digital cable with component HDVT output, and the boxes even have a digital video recorder in it now (like Tivo), so you can record up to 3 programs at one digitally and watch it later.

I've had a 65" Mitsubishi DiamondScan HDTV monitor for 3 years now, but only use it to watch DVDs or regular cable broadcasts. Too cheap to spring for the digital cable service right now. I watch most of my TV at night in bed anyways. I spend the rest of my time glued to my computer. 914club, surfing for porn, and offshore casinos. (Just kidding)

We will get something in the new house (either digital cable or Satellite). We're going to spring for some 42" plasma TVs as well. They prices are dropping on those big time. You can pick up 42" plasma sets for around $3k now. Compared to $10K just 9 months ago.
