just for you jeff. i was wrong on the vinyl on the driver's side. easy insert swap out for someone with a good seat. no rips or tears noticed with a brief glance. pass side seat is in nice shape. i think they would brighten up with a good cleaning. these aren't my seats. bug craig with your "can i buy those seats?" questions guys. I also noticed that the vinyl was more worn than the fabric. On my 76 the red plaid fabric wore through before the vinyl trim.

But, the orange plaid pattern does look correct, and I don't think too many people would go to the trouble of recovering a seat just to have plaid.

By the way, back in the seventies I test drove a red VW Scirroco that had the same type plaid seat fabric as the 914.
