Come on guys. Yes typically 100-200 tread rating will grip like crazy, but there are plenty of 200-300 treadwear rated tires that are just fine for the street and occasional AX. Not everyone needs a tire that will burn up in less than 7500 miles. I run Falkens that are rated at 280 on my Audi and they grip great.
I have run those Sumitomos on my 914. They are a fine street tire. They are also predictable on the track. They dont offer the grip of the sub 200 treadwear tires, but they arent a bad tire for the street. Also consider the fact that most sub 200 treadwear tires are summer tires that are sub optimum for rain driving especially after they have worn some of that soft rubber off. |
