My lawyer got his car stolen.

He lives outside of Denver, in a really high-end neighborhood in Golden. He went outside early one morning and hit the "warm-up" button on his Lexus. The car starts up and then warms and shuts off again. So he goes back inside to get some coffe or do whatever. Comes back out and his car is gone. Files a police report. Blah blah blah. Is FORCED to drive his BMW in the snow! Cops find his car a couple weeks later. They give it back to him in perfect condition. So late one night, he hears his Lexus start up and drive away. He thought it was one of his kids. So he gets up to see who's gone. Nobody. His car got stolen again. Files a police report. Blah blah blah. Has to drive his bimmer in the snow again. His insurance company actually makes the executive desicion to NOT be douchebags and settles with him. He gets the full value of the vehicle. One of his buddies (OK, me.) Notices a nice looking Lexus of the same model at an auction while investigating a nice, cheap 911 (turned out to be crap.) Turns out they were the same Lexus. And so my laywer buys his own Lexus back for $1500. Makes like $25,000 on the deal and immediately has the locks changed.

He was pretty good-natured about the whole thing, though. He deserved it.
