Trying to diagnose why my parking brake red warning lights do not shut off. I understand it could be one of two switches - either the master cylinder reset switch or the handbrake switch. I'll be checking the master cylinder switch this weekend. I've already checked the handbrake switch and it is working, but I dont know how/where it is installed to make contact with the handbrake... does anyone have any pics of this? Also, what else could be causing my issue? Is there a relay involved? Steve

Steve, the brake indicator light had 2 purposes, if the parking brake is on or there has been an interruption in the brake hydraulic system, ie, loss of pressure. I'm currently trying to 'debug' my issue with the brake indicator light being on after a couple of stomps on the brake. Mine appears to be the rod from the brake pedal is mis-adjusted.

Here's a link to my website for the parking brake light switch, removal and installation.

Basically, the parking brake switch is open when the parking brake handle is not touching the switch and the light stays on. Opposite when the handle is fully depressed (released). You can check the switch by setting the brake, then pushing the switch down, it should turn the light out. If the light still doesn't go out, you should reset the MC, then check the parking brake again.
