(Piggybacking on the "how much have you spent" poll from yesterday...)
This morning I attented a lecture on "Inter-Generational Diversity in the Workplace". More specifically, someone explaining the differences between the 4 generations currently existing in American culture. She made a point to say that Baby Boomers do the least amount of saving, due to their affinity with expensive material possesions, including "those fancy restored cars". Shame on your boomers! I'm 32, And I didn't start saving my 401K till I was 29. Now the 401K is growing nicely, and I got a few other things stashed.
I'm forcing the GF to start saving also. For me the best way to save was to pay off my car, and dump that money into my ESPP at my work. the ESPP works out that I get what I paid in the car back every 1.5 years, but I was going to be paying for the Jeep for 4 years. Right there made me figure out how I was getting fucked over. |
