I am looking at buying a '73 2 litre(v. nice car) which has a low compression reading in #3 and#4 cylinders.
Any suggestions as to repair of the same? I figure that I will have to drop the engine and pull the heads,strip them down and send the base heads to a specialist. The leakdown results were mainly in the valves,some ring leakage in #4. I will check the bottom end out when I pull the heads. I guess there is no easy fix,I need some advice and clear diagrams about how to go about it. Thanks Geoff |

I'm not sure what diagrams you're looking for, there is a nice engine drop article here on the site (click 914 Info at the top of this page), the Haynes manual will guide you through teardown, or get Jake Raby's video from Bug Me Video or his online store. For the actual work, I would recommend Adrain @ Headflow Masters or Rimco. Get both heads done at the same time.
