I am looking at buying a '73 2 litre(v. nice car) which has a low compression reading in #3 and#4 cylinders.
Any suggestions as to repair of the same? I figure that I will have to drop the engine and pull the heads, strip them down and send the base heads to a specialist. The leakdown results were mainly in the valves, some ring leakage in #4. I will check the bottom end out when I pull the heads. I guess there is no easy fix,I need some advice and clear diagrams about how to go about it. Thanks Geoff |

Len at HAM is the man at repairing these heads IMHO. Nice work and he replaces all the seats properly so they don't fall out! New guides are a must along with the usual crack repairs between the sparkplug hole and valve seats.
Itsa long way from Aust. but worth fixing right the first time. Definately rebuilt the rest at this time, new rings, bearings, rods reconditioned, and most important a new cam and lifters! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rocking nana.gif) |
