Is it really true that certain Porsche clubs banned 914 or 924 owners from membership for owning NARPs? Just paging through Up-Fixin' it's obvious that PCA always respected these cars from day one, so I'm beginning to think that the whole story was just an urban legend.

I'd say urban legend. The 356ers looked down their noses at the 911. Then the 911 guys looked askance at the 914 before running out to trade up to the newest RSR to keep up with them. Then the water pumpers came out, what a hue and cry there was. Some things never change.
