it's been a while since i started this project. i had all the parts, but i was waiting for the right time to redo the complete rear suspension ...
yesterday, i went up to McMark's and we took out the old trailing arms and axles and shocks and prepared my new trailing arms and the axles. McMark finished the job today, and now i have: - new (unbend) trailing arms - new mueller roller bearings - new koni adjustable shocks - new axles with brand new 944 CVs (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Andy PS: for the axles, i used, tranny to wheel: 915 (911, '75 - '79) coarse spline 6-bolt 100mm outputshafts -> 944 100mm CV -> modified 914 axle shaft -> 944 100mm CV -> 911 ('75 - '79) 6-bolt 100mm stub axle -> 911 ('69 - '73?) hub = real 5-lug! on top, the stock 914 axle, bottom, the new axle using 944 and 911 parts: ![]() and installed: ![]() |

the main benefits of doing this, IMHO:
- 944 CVs are still readily available brand new for reasonable prices. - 944 CVs are slightly bigger and wider than stock 914 CVs. - real 5-lug hubs instead of redrilled 914 hubs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Andy |
