one of my buddies has been looking into doing a v8 conversion. he has no problem with the engine part, but is worried about losing handling if he decides to do it? for those of you with experience with v8's, how do they handle?

QUOTE(biosurfer1 @ Nov 4 2003, 10:40 PM) for those of you with experience with v8's, how do they handle? why would they handle differently ? plus or minus a little, they don't weigh that much more than a factory /6. LSD can help get the traction down. the weight is a little higher than with a flat engine but aluminum cylinder heads mitigate that. you move some weight forward due to the radiator but a little more weight up front is not all bad. get wide enough rear wheels to balance the increased power, and there is no reason they can't be made to handle very well. of course, all the usual tweaks need to be made, and moreso. heavier rear springs for one, anti roll bars, properly valved dampers - all the usual suspension tuning you'd have to do with any big HP increase ... |
