The steering wheel on the 74 parts car is frozen, as in it won't turn. In my 70 I can turn the wheel without the key in the ignition, is this the way all
914 are or do you need to have the ignition turned to on before the steering wheel can move?? If it needs to be on then what can you do if you don't have a key?? Being able to turn the wheel will make getting the car out much easier. - Garold |

yepp, they have a lock. if yours dosen't, something is wrong ...
but back to the parts car, taking the column apart is quite a task, especially on a car like that. it might be easier to disconnect the shaft just before it goes through the front firewall. there is a connector "knee" (how do you call those in english?) with just one bolt (13mm if i'm not mistaken). all you need is a BFH (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) cause it might be rusted together. then, turn the wheels by hand. i mean, actually grab a wheel and turn.
