If I wanted to put a video camera along with one of those small remote camera that I could tape in different positions, i.e., front roll bar, dash or wherever a good picture could be secured, along with a remote microphone, what would be the trick step-up?
Need a "video for dummies" or plug and play approach, if that's possible. Thanks. |

The key to good video is a wide angle lens and the position of the camera(IMHO). I am still working on getting some of my DE video on the web somehow. I use a Sony DV camcorder with the wide angle lens on a custom mount.
The mount clamps to the harness bar and holds the camera down low at about my eye level. With the wide angle lense, I can see about 1/4 of the steering wheel, gauges and the entire windshield. I also wired a led to the brake light and mounted it in the ash tray so you could see when I go for the brakes. Next time, I am going to hang a small cord (3 inches)from the mirror so you can see the G's (G-String) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/MDB2.gif) The battery o9n the camera kept going dead mid run so I set up a power inverter and use the ac adapter. As for getting the DV to DVD or mpeg, its easier said than done. I found U-lead VideoStudio 7 to be a good program but due to harddrive limitations, I have been unable to get good results yet. Hopefully soon. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Good luck. -Brett |
