Been studying the use of electric motors and wondered if it has been done successful in a 914?

Thank you to all for your info. I will continue my research, I feel that the 914 platform is a perfect conversion canidate. I will be posting my progress here as I see that I can offer my experience to allow others to build a better EV. Nice! I bought my 914 a year ago with the intention of a EV swap, still want to do it, but for now 30 mpg and interior+suspension restoration are in progress. The initial cost of the controllers and batteries is still very large, and somewhat frustrating that the best technology is uber-expensive (i.e. polymer batteries). I really want a AC with more torque or DC with regen braking...but am about $5k short to get started. Otmar is THE MAN. Contact him through Zilla controllers. Having a 914 is a good "in" with him. He was very helpful, but also a respected professional in the EV field, and had to keep our communications short because I am still in "tire kickin" mode and don't have the $$$ to put my ideas in motion. Good luck! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
