well...in the early hours of the new year last night, i recieved some good news regarding a decent sum of money coming my way. The formula for such a windfall breaks down as follows:

1 part to wife / 1 part to savings / 1 part to drew's new engine fund

So now things are looking promising for me to take the core that I bought off fitsbain and build out a 2.2 /4 for the 914. right now I'm thinking:

76mm stroke crank (which I already have)
96mm bore kieth black pistons
dual weber 40s
cam TBD (something mild)

What a good feeling. I've been knocking on wood the entire time i was writing this post... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

happy new year to all

Drew - Bitchin! Good for you bro. We can trade rebuild stories. I just split my case a couple days ago. Sent the 1.8L AMC heads to HAM to get opened up to 42X36. Got a cam that Raby suggested and plan on running Dell 40's (which are in mid rebuild). I'll only have a 2056 - nothing like the monster you are envisioning...

Happy for you & what a good way to start the new year!

Now, back to geometry...
