The NASCAR hp stretched the gearbox(s) and chassis limits which escalated the costs. It is an awesome car and I appreciate Elmer (with his means) for having it built.

Elmer built a 32 year old 914 at shop rate to compete with highly developed production race cars that he could have just bought. A V8 914 racer encouraged him to build this car but didn't expect he would spec a NASCAR motor. The Porsche shop he chose worked many hours making the engine work and had limited V8 experience. It ate 930 gearboxes, overheated until he bought a Renegade radiator, and required a mechanic at each race. Like many of us, he caught the 914 bug and at least stuck with it to get it sorted.
He has bank and enjoys racing, you can't fault him for that... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Lawrence, he collects club fees to fund his "ho's" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |
