Hey everyone?
Iam not not a 914 owner but I have replica of 356 speedster on VW Bug pan and to day I have 1,3 boxer and gear box from bug In my car. But what I need to know is hear in Iceland are one man and him have porsche 914 ยด1975 and hi was whit 1,8 engine in side but he replace hear for 2,7 6,cylenders porsche engine and hi want too sell me the old engine. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) But what I need to know is that du i have to remove the flywhell from the 1,8 engine and can I use My flywhell from mynd old engine? and how is the essyest way too get more HorsePower out of hhit engine? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) the '75 1.8L came in two versions: EC = USA spec, 76HP @ 4800 rpm, 7.3:1 compression, EFI (L-Jetronic) AN = Euro spec, 85HP @ 5000 rpm, 8.6:1 compression, dual weber carbs a good article on what is needed to mate the T4 to a T1 transmission is located here: http://www.tunacan.net/t4/howto/starting/ the easiest way to get more HP out of the 1.8L is to improve "breathing", especially on the exhaust side. and you can always add a turbo or compressor.
