I was surfing and ran across this link.

actually, the first real midengine car porsche ever build was the "P-Wagen" (stands for Porsche Wagen).
in the early 30s, he started a company called "Hochleistungs-Fahrzeugbau GmbH" and started working on racecars. he then partnered up with "Auto Union" to build the "P-Wagen". the car featured a V16 with 4.36 Liter displacement and a roots compressor bringing the HP output to 295HP @ 4500 rpm ...
