My next project, the brake warning light. Since I bought the car 3 years ago, the light (blinking red one) only comes on when its cold outside. It never comes on with the emergency brake on season round. Tonight it showed its face with the temperature being 35 degrees outside. That was with the Emergency brake on. When the car warms up , with it cold outside, the light does not come on. What could cause this mystery?
I replaced the cylinder sensor and reset it and still nothing. Could the diode on the back of the guage malfunctioning? I have replaced the emergency brake switch and wire.. The wiring seems very simple... Any help would be appreciated... 1973 1.7L Barry |

Well, the cold is causing wiring somewhere to retract and make a good contact again... When it is warm, the wire is separated and not activitating the system.
I'm not sure really what is involved in this entire circuit. It does involve a relay, so I would remove, clean and reseat all of you relays. Check the contacts on the back of the gauge. Maybe slaughter a goat and offer it to the 914 gods... I dunno (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) |
