I bought a complete front suspension that was supposed to be an '84 Carrera but checking the rotor thickness it appears to be a ~1980 911s. But regardless it has 3 1/2" caliber spacing. I plan to keep my steering box & crossmember and probably sell off the aluminum one. I've got it all cleaned up and painted and have a few questions. Also I'd like to know what problems I might run into and if anyone has any tips.
What I'm curious about now is; 1. Where do the wheels end up compared to the 914? I do have flares. 2. I notice the lug studs are really long and look like they'll have to be cut off. 3. The torsion bars are marked L & R but is there a front & rear? are the splines of the 911 the same as the 914-4 and the adjusters the same? 4. Are the tie rod ands the same (I plan to buy new ones)? 5. Any difficulties rebuilding the calibers? Appreciate any voice of experience. |
