Hey all,
While looking for a good engine to put into my V8 conversion I found a place that specializes in LT1 and LS1 engines. I was told before that an LS1 does not fit into a 914, but does anyone know whether an LT1 would fit? Especially if you've done this conversion yourselve or know somebody who has done it please let me know. The project is getting slowly on its way. Bought a 74 roller some weeks ago and I am currently taking off what is still left on the car and assessing the rust spots behind the firewall (no gaping holes). Hopefully it won't be too much of a disaster. Got the chassis stiffening kit already, and the steel GT flares and complete 911SC front suspension should be arriving in a week or two. Looking forward to that. I'm still trying to figure out what rims/tires to use. I like the look of the black-center 930 fuchs but I get the impression that tire selection for 16" rims is kinda limited - especially for wiiiiide tires (245+). Anybody got any ideas for wheels/tires that would fit under GT flares? Johan |

I have to disagree, the LT1 is just a standard small block with aluminum heads on 93 up. The original LT1 was just a high performance 350 with froged pistons, pink rods, Steel crank, high perf cam, different valve springs and 202 heads. I have seen them in 914's before. The LS1 is a totally different breed of animal. I have heard that the LS1 does not fit in the 914 because it is longer. I think the person to ask would be Scott from Renegade Hybrids. That is what they do and would know exactly what will and wont fit.
