I was talking with a friend of mine who was telling me that the pistons in my 1.7 are the same as the pistons in a type IV VW. Is this so?

those "high retail" estimates seem way high!
73 2.0 actually sells for that..... there is no way that a beetle will sell for more than a 914 2.0 VW made millions of beetles, parts can be found anywhere! unless it is a freakin early oval or a split window! w/ an all original 1200cc powerplant and like 0007 miles on it! and most beetles out there are complete customs or resto-customs. there is no way a vw sells for more than a 914.
