i just bought 914 and have no experience on working on the 914

and it hasn't ran in 18 years and only has 69,000 original miles i need help on were to start

is the engine similar to most vw or is it way different

I am working on a car now that has sat for the past 14 years. The fuel turned to black goo in the bottom of the tank. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) Needless to say it will need a new fuel tank before it runs.
