i just bought 914 and have no experience on working on the 914
and it hasn't ran in 18 years and only has 69,000 original miles i need help on were to start is the engine similar to most vw or is it way different |

The fuel turned to black goo in the bottom of the tank. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) Needless to say it will need a new fuel tank before it runs. |

i got it running in one day thank you all Congrats (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Lucky you. I am working on a car now that has sat for the past 14 years. The fuel turned to black goo in the bottom of the tank. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) Needless to say it will need a new fuel tank before it runs. all it took was to rehook the spark plug new gas battery and oil the guy i bought it from had it sit for 18 years till i bought it but the dumbass didnt take out the battery so i have to make a new wheel well from all the rust (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) and had lots of little mice |

That "wheel well" is actually an intregral part of the chassis. Inspect the longs... pull the rocker panels and poke around. Where there is some rust.... there will be more. |
